Newsletter November and December 2009 October 30, 2009

Dear members,

The previous two months we organised three events for you: Mark Howell-Mead’s picture show, the excursion to Zurich and – last but not least – the ‘Oktober Fest’. Al-though we were very happy about the participation of the in-house events, we would welcome to have more guests for excursions!

Would you like to organise – together with a committee member – an excursion for the English Speaking Club of Bern? Then contact us and we will see what can be arranged.

The year 2009 is almost over! The events of the months November and December are therefore traditional, so that it’s almost not necessary to mention them.

On November 13th the AGM takes place. The agenda has already been sent out as stipulated by our constitu-tion. Print-outs of the agenda and any further documents will be provided to those attending. Please do not miss the occasion to cast your vote. Premium Members only are allowed to vote but Basic Members are welcome to attend the meeting to.

The last Friday in December we hold the famous Christmas party. Have a glass of mulled wine with us and celebrate the festive days. As it’s the last bar night in 2009, be aware that we will – unofficially – also cele-brate the New Year! Join us for the last event in 2009!

Last but not least: Stefan Bogdanov will hold one Sing together at the club, so don’t miss it. And Graham Tritt – tireless as we know him – provides the bar talk. Please sign up for this event, details on the second page.

And now all that remains to be said is – a bit early though – merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Singing is good for the soul! Enjoy a couple of hours of vocalizing with friends accompanied by Stefan Bogdanov on guitar. Stefan provides the lyrics of some old pop favorites and everyone sings along. It’s easy and it’s fun! This is also a nonsmoking event to keep those vocal cords fine tuned! Drop in anytime, it’s free!

Soon it is Halloween and you need some evil looking pumkins to scare your neighbours. Terhi invites you to the English Club to carve some of those little demons. Please sign up per e-mail pumpkin@gerbers.ch and tell us if we need to organize you a pumpkin or if you are bringing your own. Don’t forget your sharp knife. Candels and some snacks will be provided.

You never carved a pumpkin? No problem – we will show you how to do it.
